I have sensitivity, this is the only toothpaste I trust not to make more sensitivity issues. The taste, freshness and it is excellent for dry mouth.

I purchased this product for it's 'repair & protect' and 'whitening' claims. Thankfully, my sensitive tooth areas have faded and I no longer need this product, because I absolutely cannot and will not use it any longer. For weeks, if not months, my lips have been dry and peeling, and the skin surrounding my lips has been dry, red, and flaking. Thinking this condition was caused by dehydration, I've purchased countless creams and expensive chapsticks to rehydrate my skin and lips. I've started taking a multivitamin to eliminate the possibility of a vitamin deficiency. I've been embarrassed for weeks, trying my best to hide my lips, yet not affect them further with cover-up. As I was thinking about what change could I have possibly instated within the past few months that could have caused this reaction, I remembered I had recently switched from a competitor brand to Sensodyne. So I stopped using Sensodyne Repair & Protect Whitening over a week ago, and my lips have FINALLY returned to normal! I can't believe it! Never again will I use this product. After researching online, I've read claims about an allergy to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate being the common cause. However, my competitor brand toothpaste contains SLS, too, and does not have the same affect on my lips and skin. So, I haven't quite figured out what it is about this toothpaste that caused all of that irritation and suffering, but I do know I will never buy this product again, nor recommend it.

Love this product!

By

from Joplin, Missouri

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

Cured my sensitivity, never had any side effects. Some whitening but have used it for years so don't really remember tooth color before. Recently became concerned about triclosan due to negative effect on gut healthy flora. Thank goodness it doesn't contain any. I was really sad at the idea I might have to switch,

Causes canker sores and irritation

By

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

I'm a loyal Sensodyne customer and decided to try a new one, "whitening, repair and protect." Bad decision - a terrible canker sore formed and it took me 5 days to figure out that was the cause thanks to a website noting that sodium lauryl sulfate causes canker sores. Sure, there are other causes, but my diet hasn't changed and I'm a healthy eater. So disappointing to find out it was my toothpaste intended for people with sensitive teeth/gums. This product needs to be reformulated without that ingredient or pulled from the market.

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

After using the toothpaste a couple of times I found the inside of my lips and the skin under my tongue burned, swollen and painful. The toothpaste causes the burns and I stopped using it immediately.

For your safety, don't but this!

By

from Athens

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

Bought it accidentally, than my usual gum production Sensodyne. As soon as I put it in my teeth my mouth Burns and I feel sharp pain on my teeth and gums. I ignored the pain for four days and kept using and I got horrible sore throat and gums now. I feel constantly dehydrated and my teeth have become sensitive even though they were not. This toothpaste is a disaster and very dangerous! Sensodyne is awesome but this particular toothpaste is a mistake! Do not buy!

Canker sores!

By

from South

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

Add me to to the list of people who developed peeling lips, burning of the tongue, and canker sores after starting this product! I've used other Sensodyne products for some time now without issue but this repair and protect is new for me. Couldn't figure out what was causing me all these problems (thinking what have I been eating that's different? hmm.. nothing?) but as I'm brushing and feeling the terrible burning, it hit me, this must be the cause!! I discontinued use and within a few days began to heal. Never again.

Canker Sores

By

from North Carolina

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

I never had canker sores, and within three days of using this product I had several. Right inside my lips, at the gum line, which makes doing ANYTHING -- eating, drinking, talking -- very painful. After doing some research, I discovered sodium lauryl sulfate is thought to be a main contributor to canker sores. What's in the ingredient list of this product? Sodium lauryl sulfate.

I love sensodyne; their pronamel products are among my favorites and I wanted to try one of their whitening products. This is going right in the trash because my mouth HURTS.

Best whitener on the shelf.

By

from Lafayette, LA

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

At first I didn't like it, but I noticed it really cleared off the yellow tint on my teeth. If you can have your dentist paint the fluoride on your teeth and then use this, it really helps fortify your enamel and dentin.

I would never buy it again.

By

from Illinois

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

I accidentally bought whitening and repair type as usually i buy other sensodyne types. As soon as i open the tube and tries to put on brush it was leaking as if paint was dripping. It was too hard to wipe it from my sink. My tongue is itchy and whole mouth feels hot.
I want to get my money back so i can try other sensodyne type that i usually buy.

Heats up, Burns, Mouth Peeling/Pain

By

from Mississippi

Comments about Sensodyne Repair and Protect:

I have never had issues with Sensodyne products before and when I ran out of my regular tube (I think sensodyne extra whitening?) I went and grabbed another. I accidentally grabbed Whitening, Repair, and protect. Didn't think that was a big deal. First use it heated up on contact with my mouth and tasted awful. Almost like minty sulfur? I didn't think much of it but it continued to do this after a few uses and my lips on the outside and inside started to peel and sting. My throat has also felt raw and scratchy, with a bad taste as if I have an infection or ulcer. I threw it away after only 4 uses. I would not recommend anyone buying this kind. It has been a few days since I've used it and my mouth is still peeling. I am afraid to go back to sensodyne toothpaste after this experience, which is a shame because the others did help with my sensitivity.
